Irán ha estado utilizando un sistema comercial secreto con China para mantener el flujo de mercancías a pesar de las sanciones de EE. UU., informó Reuters. El acuerdo vincula las ventas de petróleo iraní con créditos para importaciones chinas, lo que ayuda a Teherán a acceder a suministros esenciales al tiempo que evita los canales bancarios internacionales.

China compró más del 80 % del petróleo enviado por Irán en 2025, con un promedio de alrededor de 1,4 millones de barriles al día, según Kpler.

Personas familiarizadas con el sistema afirmaron que entre 2000 y 2500 millones de dólares pasaron a través de un vehículo de propósito especial (SPV, por sus siglas en inglés) durante el último año.

Según se informa, alrededor del 70 % de los ingresos del petróleo iraní gestionados a través de este mecanismo más amplio se destina a proyectos de infraestructura. El resto se utiliza para pagar a las empresas chinas que suministran bienes a Irán.

Se informa que el sistema funciona desde al menos 2021, ayudando inicialmente a Irán a obtener medicamentos y vacunas contra la COVID-19.

Las fuentes también alegaron que se utilizó en el último año para contratos que involucraban millones de dólares en equipos de defensa aérea. Reuters señaló que no pudo verificar de forma independiente esas transacciones.

El Ministerio de Asuntos Exteriores de China dijo que «no estaba familiarizado con la situación» y reiteró su oposición a las sanciones unilaterales.

La pregunta más importante es qué pasará si la presión de EE. UU. interrumpe el sistema. Ningún cargamento de crudo iraní ha cruzado con éxito el estrecho de Ormuz hacia China desde que se restableció el bloqueo el 14 de julio, según Reuters.
