Adyen ha desarrollado de forma constante su negocio en la India desde que obtuvo las licencias de agregador de pagos y transfronteriza en 2024. Su plantilla local alcanzó los 120 trabajadores en el primer semestre de 2026, diez veces más que en 2023.

Los ingresos antes de impuestos en la India se duplicaron con creces hasta alcanzar los 3,18 millones de euros (3,5 millones de dólares) en 2025, frente a los 1,45 millones de euros del año anterior. A nivel mundial, Adyen registró 1060 millones de euros (1230 millones de dólares) en ingresos netos para 2025.

La empresa presta servicios a importantes clientes, entre ellos Uber y Microsoft, y está colaborando con Adobe en su oferta de pagos en la India. También está ayudando a la plataforma de viajes india Oyo a expandirse internacionalmente.

Reacción del mercado

Adyen se enfrenta a un mercado competitivo y fuertemente regulado. Stripe redujo sus operaciones en la India en 2024, mientras que PayPal abandonó los pagos nacionales en 2021 y ahora se centra en las transacciones transfronterizas.

La UPI es fundamental para los planes de Adyen en la India. La empresa también se está preparando para el «comercio agéntico», donde los agentes de IA podrían buscar productos y completar compras para los consumidores.
