O Irão tem vindo a utilizar um sistema comercial secreto com a China para manter o fluxo de mercadorias, apesar das sanções dos EUA, informou a Reuters. O acordo associa as vendas de petróleo iraniano a créditos para importações chinesas, ajudando Teerão a aceder a bens essenciais enquanto evita os canais bancários internacionais.

A China comprou mais de 80% do petróleo enviado pelo Irão em 2025, com uma média de cerca de 1,4 milhões de barris por dia, de acordo com a Kpler.

Pessoas familiarizadas com o sistema afirmaram que cerca de 2 mil milhões a 2,5 mil milhões de dólares passaram por um veículo de finalidade específica (SPV) no último ano.

Cerca de 70% das receitas do petróleo iraniano geridas através do mecanismo mais amplo destinam-se, alegadamente, a projetos de infraestruturas. O restante é utilizado para pagar a empresas chinesas que fornecem mercadorias ao Irão.

O sistema estará operacional desde, pelo menos, 2021, tendo inicialmente ajudado o Irão a obter medicamentos e vacinas contra a COVID-19.

Fontes alegaram também que o sistema foi utilizado no ano passado para contratos que envolveram milhões de dólares em equipamento de defesa aérea. A Reuters afirmou não ter conseguido verificar essas transações de forma independente.

O Ministério dos Negócios Estrangeiros da China declarou "não estar familiarizado com a situação" e reiterou a sua oposição a sanções unilaterais.

A grande questão é o que acontece se a pressão dos EUA perturbar o sistema. Nenhum carregamento de crude iraniano atravessou com sucesso o Estreito de Ormuz em direção à China desde que o bloqueio foi reposto a 14 de julho, de acordo com a Reuters.
