Le géant du pétrole veut bâtir son propre empire automobile

La startup saoudienne Ceer a dévoilé lundi sa berline électrique futuriste Exobot et son SUV, marquant une étape majeure dans les efforts du royaume pour bâtir une industrie automobile nationale et réduire sa dépendance au pétrole.

DÉTAILS CLÉS

Les deux Exobots présentent des designs inspirés de la science-fiction et des portes « papillon » à ouverture vers le haut. Ceer a également supprimé les montants traditionnels entre les sièges avant et arrière, en utilisant des matériaux à haute résistance pour le support structurel.

Les véhicules devraient être mis en vente en Arabie saoudite au début de l'année 2027.

Ceer est une coentreprise entre le fonds souverain d'Arabie saoudite, le Public Investment Fund (PIF), et le géant taïwanais de l'électronique Foxconn. Foxconn a développé l'architecture électrique des voitures, tandis que BMW a fourni un support technique.

Un réseau croissant de fournisseurs établit également des usines en Arabie saoudite, notamment Lear, Shin Young, Benteler et Fangxin.

RÉACTION DU MARCHÉ

Ceer entre sur le marché des VE en pleine restructuration majeure de l'industrie, les constructeurs automobiles chinois gagnant du terrain à l'échelle mondiale et plusieurs startups de VE étant en difficulté ou en faillite.

L'entreprise prévoit cinq modèles grand public de 2028 à 2030, y compris des hybrides rechargeables et des véhicules à moteur à combustion.
